Made properly, by hand
Jayded Metalworks is a fabrication workshop built around a simple idea: if you can picture it, we can make it. Not chosen from a catalogue, not ordered in from a warehouse — drawn out with you, cut and welded in our workshop, and fitted by the same people who built it.
Every piece we make is a one-off. That is not a marketing line, it is just how bespoke fabrication works: your opening, your levels, your brickwork and your design are not the same as anybody else's, so the gate or railing that suits them has to be made for them.
Twenty years at the bench
The workshop is led by director Shelly Steer, with twenty years of fabrication experience behind it. That experience mostly shows up in the boring, invaluable things — knowing which section will carry a five-metre sliding gate without sagging in year three, knowing how a hot-dip finish behaves on a welded joint, knowing when a customer's sketch will not survive contact with a real driveway and how to fix it before any steel is cut.
What we work in
We fabricate in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, with MIG and TIG welding undertaken in-house. Natural wood or weatherproof composite infills can be added to any design when you want privacy, warmth or a solid face without the upkeep that timber usually brings.
Because the design, the fabrication and the welding all happen under one roof, there is nobody to pass the blame to and nobody to wait on. If something needs adjusting on site, the person adjusting it is the person who made it.
Design it with us, or bring your own
Some customers arrive with a measured drawing. Most arrive with a photo from the internet, a rough sketch on the back of an envelope, or just a description of what they are trying to achieve. All three are a fine place to start.
We will talk through what is possible, what it will cost you in maintenance later, and what will actually suit the building it is going on — then turn it into something that can be fabricated properly.
We fit it too
We are not only a workshop. We measure, we fabricate, and we install, from a single side gate to a large automated sliding gate on its track. Having one team across all three stages is the difference between a gate that fits and a gate that nearly fits.
Where we work
Our workshop is at Draycott Mills in Draycott, Derbyshire, sitting between Derby and Nottingham. Most of our work is across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire — Nottingham, Derby, Long Eaton, Beeston, Ilkeston, Stapleford, Borrowash, Breaston, Castle Donington and the villages around them.
We also take work in and around Birmingham, an area we know well. Wherever the job is, we travel to measure up, meet you and visit the site before anything is cut, and we come back to install.
Most of what we make goes into people's homes, but we work just as happily with builders, developers and commercial clients who need the metal element of a project made properly and fitted on time.
